“The cuts to our budget are not unexpected but will obviously have an impact on the wider regeneration projects in the city. This is of course disappointing for all concerned and we will be working closely with our partners to look at the priority schemes and how we can continue to progress them. Today’s announcement does not impact on our flagship scheme, Vaux.
“We are currently in discussions with our partners over the future of the organisation. We have been heavily involved in the preparation of the city’s Economic Masterplan, which is due to be launched in the autumn, and will be key in determining how regeneration will be taken forward in Sunderland.
“What is fundamentally important is that we have people in the city with the right skills who have the ability to deliver whilst managing the difficult challenges ahead.”
